What to see

The Kasbah crowns the old town, with the Kasbah Museum in the former sultan's palace. Below it, the medina runs down to the port and the Grand Socco square. West of the city, Cape Spartel and the Caves of Hercules make a good half-day trip.

Getting there and away

Al Boraq high-speed trains run from Tanger Ville to Rabat and Casablanca. Fast ferries cross to Tarifa in Spain from the city port, while ferries to Algeciras use Tanger Med, about 45 km east. Chefchaouen is about two and a half to three hours away by road.
