What to see

Ifrane was built in the 1930s as a hill station, with pitched roofs, gardens and wide streets that feel unlike anywhere else in Morocco. It is home to Al Akhawayn University. The stone lion in the park is the town's emblem. In winter Ifrane often sees snow.

Between Ifrane and Azrou, forests of Atlas cedar are home to Barbary macaques, which gather near the roadside. Please do not feed them.

Getting there

Ifrane is about an hour by road from Fes and is often visited on the way from Fes to Merzouga. See also Morocco's mountain ranges.
