What to see
Agadir is a modern city, so most visitors come for the beach and the sunshine rather than historic sights. The ruined kasbah of Agadir Oufella, destroyed in the 1960 earthquake, gives a panorama over the bay. Souk El Had is one of the largest markets in Morocco.
Around Agadir
The surf village of Taghazout lies about 20 km north, and Paradise Valley in the Atlas foothills is a popular half-day trip. Essaouira is about three hours up the coast.
Getting there
Agadir has direct flights from many European cities. There is no railway; Supratours buses connect with trains at Marrakech, and the motorway takes about three hours.
